 In December 2017, the staff of the anime series announced that My Hero Academia would be receiving an animated film. The film, titled My Hero Academia: Two Heroes, was directed by Kenji Nagasaki, produced by Bones and distributed in Japan by Toho. Set between the second and third seasons of the anime series, the film was released on August 3, 2018. On February 8, 2019, Funimation and Toho hosted the world premiere of My Hero Academia: Two Heroes at Anime Expo 2018 with the English dub.[78] The film screened in U.S. theaters for two days only on September 25 and 26, 2018,[79] before being released on home video on November 20. The series has been adapted into an original video animation (OVA) produced by Bones and released in April 2017.  My Hero Academia is directed by Kenji Nagasaki and produced by the studio Bones. The series uses 53 different pieces of theme music: 26 opening themes and 27 ending themes. For the first 13 episodes, the opening theme is "The Day" by Porno Graffitti, who also performed the first ending theme song "Heroes". The second season's opening theme, titled "Peace Sign", is performed by Kenshi Yonezu while the ending theme is "Dakara, Hitori ja nai" (だから、ひとりじゃない) performed by Little Glee Monster. Horikoshi stated that after his previous series Barrage was cancelled after just two volumes, he was sad and out of ideas.[5] In order to get more ideas, he revisited a one-shot he previously published in Akamaru Jump, titled My Hero (僕のヒーロー, Boku no Hīrō). This would end up being the basis for the series.[6] Horikoshi was also a big fan of American films and comics, like Spider-Man directed by Sam Raimi, Star Wars, and X-Men, which he used for inspiration.[7][6] Horikoshi cites Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto as being the main influence for his art, specifically stating it gave him a love for drawing hands.[8] Horikoshi has also cited Dragon Ball, Ultraman, and Kamen Rider as sources of inspiration.  The main theme of My Hero Academia is "What makes a hero?",[9] but, like many other Shōnen manga, it also incorporates a lot of action and comedy.
